Rowena Mynott tells intimate stories of wild places and the people connected to them through a thoughtful, natural lens. Working between land and sea, she captures both expansive landscapes and quiet, fleeting details that reveal the character of a place.
Having lived and travelled extensively, from coastal England to Australia and across Europe, her work is shaped by a life immersed in nature, ocean adventure, and slow exploration.
Her photography and writing explore wildlife, travel, and the rhythms of the natural world, inviting viewers to see beauty not just in the extraordinary, but in the everyday moments that often go unnoticed.
WHY I DO WHAT I DO
I picked up my first camera as a shy kid, peering through my great auntie's old box brownie. That camera taught me to look closely at the world — and somewhere along the way, looking closely turned into falling in love with it.
Travel gave me the rest of the story. Leaving home and setting off into the world helped me find who I was, and I discovered I couldn't get enough of connecting with new cultures, new landscapes, and the people who called them home. Working as a dive instructor across Australia, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic let me spend my days introducing people to a world most of them had never seen — the quiet, shifting blue beneath the surface — and I loved every second of it.
That love led me to shoot underwater imagery for brands, and eventually to chasing wildlife and landscapes across the globe with my camera. Every photograph I take is really an attempt to hand you a piece of what I felt standing there: the wonder, the scale, the stillness.
I still don't always find it easy to put myself out there. But I keep showing up, camera in hand, because I believe these places and creatures deserve to be seen — and because somewhere out there is another shy kid who just needs to see what's possible.
