OCEAN DISCOVERY JOURNAL

A Year of Ocean Learning and Reflection for Nature-Loving Families

Step into a year of wonder with Ocean Discovery Journal (ODJ), a multi-age, hands-on learning experience that guides your family through 52 weeks of exploration, observation, and creativity. Designed for children aged 5–16, each unit encourages curiosity, reflection, and a deep connection with the ocean — from rock pools and tides to marine life, conservation, and artistic inspiration.

With guided activities, art and writing prompts, sensory experiences, and reflection exercises, ODJ helps families explore the sea together, whether at the coast, inland, or from memory. It’s not about tests or busywork — it’s about noticing, creating, and growing a lifelong love for the living ocean.

Linked to the British Curriculum
While Ocean Discovery Journal is experiential and nature-based, each unit is thoughtfully designed to support key areas of the British curriculum. Through reading, creative writing, poetry, discussion, and reflection, children develop:

  • Reading comprehension – exploring stories, poems, and non-fiction about the sea

  • Writing skills – journaling, descriptive writing, and creative storytelling

  • Speaking and listening – sharing observations, reflections, and ideas in a family setting

By combining hands-on learning with literacy skills, ODJ helps children meet curriculum objectives in an inspiring, real-world context, while nurturing curiosity, observation, and a lifelong love of the ocean.

Discover. Observe. Reflect. Create.
